This page contains directions from the airport, railway station, bus station and the main motorways. The last section also contains information about where to park. You will find maps to download in each section (depending on how you are getting here). These are not really necessary unless you are coming by car, but you may find them useful.

If you are coming late at night you may be worried whether public transport is still running: the website listed below gives you a 24-hour timetable of buses and trams. The metro generally starts about 5am and stops at about midnight.

Please make sure that you have told us your time of arrival so that your contact person knows when to expect you. Please also remember to call your contact person as soon as you arrive. Planes and trains are very often delayed: if your contact person doesn't know when you are coming he or she will have to wait in all day so as not to miss you. If you have arranged to be picked up by taxi your taxi driver also needs to know what is happening. Please send your contact person an SMS from your mobile, or else call or email us and we will make sure that everyone knows exactly when to expect you! The directions here (and the ones in your emails) tell you where to find call-boxes which take coins.

Thanks very much. We are all looking forward to seeing you and hope that you have a pleasant journey.

Further Information About Public Transport in Prague

For maps of Prague go to www.mapy.cz. Type in our street name, Nerudova and press the button marked "Hledej".

For timetables for trams, buses and metro trains in Prague, plus further details about ticketing options, go to www.dpp.cz/cz/index.htm. In order to calculate the time taken for your trip from the airport go to http://www.dpp.cz/idos/ConnForm.asp.

Under "Odkud" ("from whence") type in "letiste" and under "kam" ("whither") type in "malostranske namesti". Put the date under "Datum" (in international format, not American, i.e., day-month-year) and put the time you will be getting onto the bus under "cas". This should be at least half an hour after you land. Then press "vyhledat". This will give you your connections and time of arrival. You can do the same in reverse to plan your trip back. Note that when you are planning your trip back you can give the needed time of arrival (i.e., just before check-in) by selecting the radio button "prijezd" (arrival) rather than "odjezd" (departure).
